The Great Lake

Or in this case, the Great Lakes. That’s where this freighter did her thing after being launched June 24th, 1905 in Chicago as the William E. Corey. Renamed Ridgetown in 1963, she was sunk on June 21st, 1974 in Port Credit and serves as a breakwater.

Breaking Point

camera phone

Stopped at a light next to this most interesting bus. All white, no markings. The mysterious driver, dressed in a dark suit, had a very serious look about him. Not likely anything untoward about any of this, but check out the wheels.

Tapestry

After I complimented her on her funky tortoise shell glasses, the woman at our local library, a hip looking baby boomer with Dalmatian patterned nail polish, led us to the isle where we’d find books on medieval art.  My 9 year old has a project due. “Here’s one that features many photographs on things such as tapestries,” she pointed out, pulling a slim volume off the shelf and flipping through the pages.  ”What about Carole King’s ‘Tapestry?’” I asked in reference to one of the best selling albums of all time; the 25 million copies sold worldwide classic from 1971. I wondered whether or not my smart-ass query would be lost on her.

“No…” came the deadpan reply almost dismissively, “…that came out much later.”

Changes

How cool is this?

Frans Hofmeester from the Netherlands filmed his daughter Lotte every week from birth to age 12 and has released a time-lapse of his project so far. Frans has also done the same with his 9 year old son Vince. Both time-lapse videos cover 9 and 12 years of his children’s lives, both in less than 3 minutes.
